Blow My Heart Away…

It is a long time since I updated my blog.  Since September I have moved house, but it was no ordinary move!  I now live in the middle of a wood with access via a 2 kilometre track, in a house with no mains water or electricity!  Now that is a crafty challenge.  It has taken me a while to get Internet access sorted, set up my craft room and get use to the vagaries of photovoltaic/generator.

I am easing myself in gently by entering a card in the Saturday Sketch challenge (link on the right).  I hope you like my latest card.  Unfortunately I had to scan the card as I can’t find the lead for my camera since we moved. Instruction recipe to make the card below.

WagsNWhiskersCard

Time; 30 mins.

INGREDIENTS

  • Wags and Whispers –Bubble Fun digi stamp from http://www.stampandcreate.com
  • Background paper design from www.divinedigital.com
  • Scalloped border template from www.lavendersbluedesign.com
  • Top pink border - Spellbinders Floral Doiley die
  • Fancy embossed circle – Spellbinders Parisian Motifs die
  • Circle die cut from stash
  • 4cm wide ribbon from stash
  • 2 x heart die-cuts for sentiment
  • Love U stamps from stash
  • 3 satin ribbon roses from stash
  • Pearl heart gems from stash
  • Coordinating ink pad
  • Copics markers (or similar)

RECIPE

  1. Cut out card blank from 2 x A4 sheets of card, cut 1 piece 22.5 cms x 20 cms (8 3/4” x 7 3/4”), cut the other piece 20cms x 20cms (7 3/4” x 7 3/4”), score a line on the larger piece 2.5cms from one edge, attach the smaller piece of card to the inside of this fold to make the card blank
  2. Print the digital die and colour using Copics markers, scan the coloured image and reduce in size to fit the Spellbinders Floral Doiley circle die.  Stick the die to the card with the image on with low-tack tape to ensure it doesn’t move, and run through your machine
  3. Print background paper onto lightweight card and cut to 19.5 x 19.5 cms (7 5/8” x 7 5/8”)
  4. Ink the edge of the border using a coordinating ink.  Attach gems to the hearts and lace border and then attach the border to the background paper
  5. Cut the ribbon to size and wrap around the background paper, securing to the underside.
  6. Using double-sided tape or glue attach the background paper to the card blank
  7. Run your Spellbinders Floral Doiley border through your machine to cut and emboss and attach this to the front to cover the top edge of your ribbon
  8. Using 3d glue or foam pads attach the die-cut circle to the centre of your card, then using a flat glue or double –sided tape attach the die-cut image
  9. Stamp and ink the heart die-cut and attach it to the second heart, I used foam pads at the top to give dimension and flat tape at the bottom
  10. Finally attach the satin ribbon flowers or alternative embellishments in the top right corner
  11. Print an insert for your card and attach to the inside
